This is a detailed overview of evidence from research and practice, relating to the Welsh context, which identifies key indicators for improving student retention and success through engagement. These include: multiple engagement opportunities, interaction of engagement opportunities, building students’ capacity to engage, promoting staff responsibility for student engagement, monitoring student engagement, and evaluating impact. The case study examples have the potential to inform practical interventions, and the report could be useful for promoting resilience at a strategic level.
